Nikon Denies Delay in Z-Mount Lens Launch, Promises 30 Lenses by Year’s End

Denying all the reports which said that Nikon has put a hold to its Z-mount line-up, the company has promised to increase the line-up to as much as 30 lenses by the end of this financial year.  According to Nikon Rumors, the 105mm Micro S lens, the 100-400mm S and the 200-600mm were all delayed, some even dating back to 2020.

However, Nikkei, in one of its reports says that the company is planning to launch 12 lenses in 12 months, taking the Z-mount range from 18 to 30. By this, Nikon aims at achieving profitability by 2022.

This being said, some sceptics are concerned, considering the fact that the company has not released even one Z-mount lens in the past 8 months. Yet, all the company asks its consumers is to be patient.

Sony Has Discontinued the a6500 Mirrorless Camera

With the Sony having removed a6500 from the website, the company in all probability seems to have discontinued the mirrorless camera. The distributors of the camera are also showing the status of camera as "no longer available".

Launched in 2016, featuring the highest number of AF points on the sensor ever and claimed to be the fastest autofocus system, the a6300 was also discontinued last fall.

Strangely, Sony seemed content with increasing the number of models in the APS-C range, rather than getting the older models out of picture. A total of six cameras with marginally different set of features created an unnecessary confusion among buyers, which now seems to be somewhat reduced with the discontinuation of a6300 and a6500.

This however, will not stay for long as according to some rumours, the company is planning on launching yet another APS-C camera, the details of which are unknown.

Leica Unveils Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm F2.8 ASPH lens for L-mount

Leica has unveiled its Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm F2.8 ASPH lens for L-mount full-frame bodies. The lens consists of 19 elements in 15 groups, three of which are aspherical and 9 specialist elements offer chromatic correction with their anomalous partial dispersion. Consisting of just a single element, the lens' focus group is driven by a quiet stepping motor.

Weighing only 1.9 pounds, the lens is lighter than the older version (Leica Vario Elmarit SL 24-90mm ASPH) but has a similar build quality. The body of the lens is completely weather sealed and offers a high standard of construction.

Along with boasting 11 aperture blades, the lens also provides a minimum focus distance of just 18cm and a maximum magnification of 0.34x and uses 82mm filters.
